Finding My Voice
This is a post I've been wanting to write for a while, but then I decided to vigorously stir the pot that is my life and I got a bit sidetracked with this blog. Anyway, I felt like I really had to write it after talking with my friend and fellow maker, Kirsten. We met several years ago on Tumblr when I found her tumblr blog thing and bought one of her crocheted iPod cozies. She recently told me about her new shop update (go buy one of her hats!), and I told her that I thought her listing descriptions were great. Yes! This is what I'm talking about! It took me so long to find my voice, especially with my Etsy listings. When I started my Etsy shop, I was still in college. I was in academic writing mode, which, to me, is the worst possible mode to be in. I dreaded adding new items to my shop because it was so tedious and I felt my listings had to be all stiff and formal. Then one day I just said, fuck it. I'm going to write what I want.
The same goes for this blog. What you're reading here? This is how I'd talk to you if we were so lucky to be face to face. After going through many phases in my life of trying to be something I'm not, I've finally figured out who I am and what I want to say and how I want to present myself to the world.
