I mentioned briefly in a post last week that I'm moving back to NYC, Manhattan specifically. It's something I've thought about for a while, and I've been saving my money for this moment. I found a great studio apartment on the Upper East Side near where I used to live when I was in college. The apartment is really small, but there's an elevator and laundry in the building so that's a big deal. My college roommate, Yetti, lives in another building owned by the same property manager, so I knew going into it that I'd be in good hands. It all happened very fast. I had been emailing back and forth with the same broker Yetti used to find her current apartment, and she emailed me one day to tell me about this new listing that wasn't even on the market yet at the time. I went to see it, told her I'd take it half an hour later, and signed the lease the next day.
Yup. Throwing caution to the wind. That's how NYC real estate works. It's a free-for-all.
So. Obviously I've been scouring Apartment Therapy and Pinterest for anything I could find about living in small spaces. Here are some more great Pinterest finds that I'll definitely/most likely be doing.
My cabinet space is veeeeery limited, people.
If I arrange everything so as to create a "living" area and a "sleeping" area, being in a studio won't be so bad.
I have limited cabinet space and I need to use it wisely.
I'm not allowed to paint so I'll have to rely on my ~decor~ to liven things up. Red futon, get ready for me.
Anyway, so that's what's going on lately. I move on 10/15. Let me know if you're in town. I'll show you around.
