My mother did the right thing and instilled in me a deep, unshakable love for The Beatles. They were an integral part of her childhood and adolescence, and she wanted to make sure that I would know them, love them, and cherish them as much as she does. I love them so much that I took an entire class in college devoted entirely to studying and dissecting their history and catalogue.
I use Spotify a lot. When I'm not editing a video at work, I'm listening to music on Spotify. I listen at home while I cook, I listen while I sew. It's a service that has only gotten better over the years since I first subscribed shortly after college. But there was always something missing...The Beatles. All of my Beatles music was on my iPod (remember those? lololol) and Spotify became my primary mode of listening to music.
And then this happened...
Notice the date: December 23. "Tonight at midnight." The entire Beatles catalogue went on Spotify at midnight on Christmas Eve.
It was probably the best Christmas Miracle I ever could have asked for. So after I got home from the bar that night, I quickly got to work assembling a Beatles favorites playlist. And here it is:
Note: all of these songs are GREAT. They're my favorites, but some I love more than others.
- Martha My Dear
- Why Don't We Do It In The Road?
- Happiness Is A Warm Gun
- Julia (Mom's fave)
- I Will
- And I Love Her
- She's Leaving Home (beautiful, highly underrated)
