I spend a lot of time on Twitter. I actually keep TweetDeck open on my desktop at work so I can watch everything happening throughout the day.
It's kind of like watching the news, but not really. Anyway, I think it's really interesting how each social media platform has taken on its own crowd, its own identity, and its own practices. I'm sure you've seen this photo circulating around the internet for the past several years, and I love how accurate it is. However, I don't find myself using hashtags on Twitter too often, which is ironic. I believe there's a specific way to use them.
Aside from Twitter, a place where I have made lifelong friends around the globe (literally), I also really love Instagram. I'd say I spend the other majority of my time there, and I've written on this before. I like to use Instagram as a mini creative outlet when I don't have time to focus on larger creative projects. As for the others...
- Pinterest: Great for recipes and ideas for projects I'll never have time to tackle.
- Facebook: Keep in touch with closer family and friends.
- YouTube: I wish I used it more because then I'd be making videos outside of work.
So what's your favorite social media platform? And how do you use it? Have you made friends through your interactions there? One of the great things about social media is that I now have friends literally all over the world. I love it, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
